Expert Wedding Planner and Designer Provides Stress-Free Tips For Planning The Perfect Day“There are so many details that come with planning a wedding,” said Kelly McWilliams, wedding planner and founder of Weddings by Socialites. “These details can get the best of you if you let them, but advanced and organized planning can help eliminate that stress.” Ms. McWilliams offers the following tips for brides and grooms on preparing for – and most importantly, enjoying – their big day. •If you hire a wedding planner, USE a wedding planner. Professional planners know what works and what doesn’t. When your planner offers advice, take it. They want your day to be as perfect as you do. •If eating broccoli gives you gas, don’t eat broccoli salad for lunch. In a fantasy world, where all brides envision themselves getting married, nobody has bad hairdays or acne, and everyone is built with the perfect body. But a fantasy world is just that – a fantasy. For your real-life wedding, plan for it as you would any other day. If you wear a girdle and apply acne medicine every day, do it on your wedding day, too. •Take some time going over wedding details with your photographer. Your wedding day may only last one day, but your photos will last a lifetime. Most wedding photographers will be happy to take any photos you ask, but make sure to go over the details with them prior to your wedding day. Make sure the photographer will know what time everything is scheduled to take place, where it will take place, what is important to you and what isn’t important. Make a list of must-have photos. If your budget allows, hire a second photographer to take only candid shots. •If possible, hire a videographer. Your wedding day will go by so quickly, and you want to make sure you capture every moment so you can relive it during your new life together. If your budget allows, ask the videographer to cover your rehearsal dinner. You won’t want to forget those great speeches. •It’s your wedding, not your mother’s, your best friend’s, or your florist’s. Stick to your guns and make it a day for your and your fiance. Although everyone’s intentions are good, they shouldn’t have the final say. Only you can decide what’s best for you, and what will make your day be filled with a lifetime of happy memories. Don’t let anyone try to talk you out of something because it’s not traditional. By following these few simple guidelines, you can be assured of less stress in the days leading up to your wedding day and on the day itself. Relax, enjoy and have fun. Kelly McWilliams is the owner of Weddings by Socialites and provides wedding coordination, planning and design to a wide array of clients. She’s been planning, designing and coordinating weddings since 2002, with an expected 20 more in 2006. Most of her weddings are destination weddings, with brides, grooms, families and friends traveling to Florida from destinations such as New York, Los Angeles and Boston. ###
