MyDeejay.com Becomes Nation's First 100% Carbon-Neutral Wedding DJ"MyDeejay.com has striven to be the leader in the sustainable business movement, and that requires doing everything possible to limit or negate our impact on the environment," said Evan Reitmeyer, President of MyDeejay.com. "This purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates and CO2 offsets is an extension of that leadership, and is part of our comprehensive sustainability policy. 'Greening up' 100 percent of our electricity use and offsetting our carbon emissions with renewable, clean energy reinforces our commitment to the environment, and our hope is that others in the wedding industry will follow suit." MyDeejay.com (www.MyDeejay.com) has purchased 35,800 Kilowatt-hours (kWh) of certified Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and 41 tons of carbon offsets from Vermont-based NativeEnergy, which negates the global warming impact from all of the company's electricity use and estimated vehicle-based carbon emissions. This purchase of renewable energy will avoid more than 135,000 pounds of carbon dioxide pollution in 2007. To have the same impact, more than 14 cars would have to be taken off the road for a full year, or more than 1,600 tree seedlings would have to be planted and grown for 10 years, according to statistics from the Environmental Protection Agency. MyDeejay.com has also joined the EPA's Green Power Partnership, which is a voluntary program that seeks to increase the use of clean, renewable energy sources among leading U.S. organizations. Partners in the program purchase green power in an amount that must meet or exceed EPA benchmarks, and in return receive EPA technical assistance and recognition. EPA's Green Power Partnership currently has more than 800 partners, including Fortune 500 companies, states, federal agencies, trade associations and universities. "America is shifting to a 'green culture', with more and more businesses understanding that environmental responsibility is everyone's responsibility," said Marcus Peacock, EPA's Deputy Administrator. "EPA commends MyDeejay.com, Inc. for making a long-term commitment to protecting the environment by purchasing green power." MyDeejay.com, Inc. provides mobile disc jockey entertainment exclusively for weddings throughout the Baltimore/Washington, DC metropolitan area. The company has received numerous honors, including mentions in Washingtonian Magazine's annual "They Know Weddings" feature and The Knot's "Best of Weddings" special national publication. Established in 2003, the company is headquartered in Columbia, MD. More information is available at http://www.mydeejay.com The Green Power Partnership is a voluntary program that encourages organizations to buy green power as a way to reduce the environmental impacts associated with purchased electricity use.
