Engaged Couples Get Helping Hand From Powerful Online Wedding Website Planning Tools

San Jose, California (PRWEB) July 26, 2007 -- Wedding website service WedShare.com (www.wedshare.com) reports that nearly 80% of all engaged couples today use the Internet to help plan their wedding, a trend that is still on the rise. And it's not just about information, they say. With the boom of the online bridal market, new tools and resources are emerging that can greatly ease the planning burden for today's engaged couples.

"The Internet has created a cultural revolution," WedShare.com president Jason Melendez says. "It has dramatically changed how we shop, keep up with the news, and stay in touch with friends and loved ones. It has also made changes to how we plan a wedding."

According to Melendez, the winds of change are good news for stressed-out brides.

"There are a lot of great ways to save time and money now that were unheard of just five years ago," Melendez says. "Things that used to be time-consuming and dreaded tasks are now fun and enjoyable."

One example is a self-building address book. It is a contact book for guests that actually builds itself, eliminating the hectic job of hunting down everybody's mailing address before sending out invitations. These new guest databases feed directly into the RSVP page of a couple's wedding website, allowing guests to post their event responses, list who is coming and even make meal selections. Everything is tallied and organized by the system automatically so that a couple can view a simple report and know at a glance how their guest list stands.

Melendez says, "With WedShare.com, we wanted to take all of these great new tools and put them together in one single resource. Now when guests visit your wedding website, they can RSVP online -- a feature that is integrated with your guest database -- and update their own contact info for you."

At the same time, a couple planning their wedding can use their wedding website's planning tools to slice up their wedding budget, get recommended amounts for various wedding items based on their budget and even get emailed when payments are due. Gift registries are all linked up and in one place, making them easy for guests to find and easy for couples to maintain.

Ernie, a groom-to-be in Baltimore whose delegated wedding duties included setting up the couple's wedding website, found that the integrated guest and event tools became a major cornerstone of their planning.

"The main thing that impressed me about WedShare was the guest and event management tools," he says. "They are very well integrated and impressive. Guests update their own contact information, which makes mailing out invitations so much easier. In terms of event management, you choose which guests see which invitations. So if you have a rehearsal dinner or brunch with separate invitees, this is all taken care of for you."

With their hectic schedules, it is easy to understand how these online conveniences and timesavers are especially appreciated by today's brides and grooms.

"Couples planning a wedding today are older, on average, than those just five or 10 years ago," says Melendez. "The average age of today's bride is 28, where it once was 18. Engaged couples today have careers, they're busy and time is in short supply. Mom and Dad may have traditionally footed the bill, but today's brides and grooms usually pay most or all of their wedding costs themselves."
