Robert Charles Photography Wins National Award Co-owner Named Photographer of the Year

EAST LONGMEADOW, MA (PRWeb) March 9, 2007 --- The natural, emotion-evoking images of Robert Francis Zemba, chief photographer and co-owner of Robert Charles Photography, have earned him the coveted Photographer of the Year Award from the Professional Photographers of America Association (PPA), the largest non-profit organization of professional photographers in the world.

The award recently presented to Zemba in Austin Texas, recognizes excellence in PPA's International Print Competition, and is only presented to an entrant who accrues at least four 'merited entries' in the annual competition.

Zemba's entries included several strong images, including 'Eye of the Storm' inspired by the tragic events brought on by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and an interpretive portrait of a U.S. Marine. A third entry, taken as part of an engagement photo session with RCP clients, shows a couple sharing a moment in the unlikely surroundings of Boston's Ruggles Station, which is indicative of the surprising beauty Zemba says he strives to capture.

In the past, Zemba has received other honors for his work, such as inclusion in the PPA's loan collection and Images of Influence gallery, and a KODAK exhibition at the Epcot Center in Orlando, Fla. He's also been recognized by the Kodak Gallery and Fuji Masterpiece awards.

Is Digital Photography Better Than Classic Photography?
When it comes to photography, the digital wave is very much in evidence and yet, both operate on the same principles. Both have a lens, an aperture and a shutter. The difference lies in how the image is formed. Classic or traditional photography uses film on which the image is captured and then developed in a darkroom with chemicals to give you negatives. These need to be printed before you can see the picture in its final form. In a digital camera, you bypass all these processes because the image is captured by an electronic sensor.
